Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong pitch for the return of the ruling BJP, lashed out at politics of manipulation and addressed a public rally at Davanagere after getting yet another rousing reception in his seventh visit to the southern state. It was his seventh visit to the poll-bound state.
Asking people if they want him to serve them and Karnataka, PM Modi said. "If I have to serve you and do something for you, I will need BJP's strong government in Karnataka, and you will have to make BJP win and bring in its strong government."
The Congress on Saturday released its first list of 124 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections with former chief minister
Siddaramaiah being fielded from his Varuna seat. Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief DK Shivakumar will contest the elections from his Kanakapura assembly constituency.
Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said that BJP will announce the list of candidates in the first week of April.
The term of the 224-member Karnataka assembly ends on May 24.
